What Is the Jamaican ting drink?

I came across the drink Ting from Jamaica, and I’m always keen to try new sodas.

So, I decided to give it a try to see what it is and how it tastes, and here’s what I found.

So, what is the Jamaican ting drink ?

In this article, I will explain what Ting tastes like, whether Boom Ting is a real drink, how many calories there are in a can of ting, and what ingredients are in it.

What does Ting taste like?

Although Ting is a grapefruit-flavored soda, you might have noticed that some sodas are labeled a certain fruit flavor but don’t necessarily taste exactly like the fruit.

For example, Fanta Orange, although it tastes good only slightly resembles the taste of orange juice and lime juice.

So, what is ting drink?

When I tasted it, I thought it was really nice and I wouldn’t mind drinking it again.

I would also recommend it if someone asked whether it is good or not. Unlike, sodas such as root beer, which is an acquired taste.

I also looked at a bunch of video reviews of people trying it online, and most of them rated it as tasting above average.

And they definitely liked it.

There wasn’t anything that they didn’t like about it, and all of them found it really refreshing national drink.

It’s important to note here that if you don’t particularly like grapefruit or citrus drinks, then you won’t like Ting.

Ting is a refreshing soft drink and delicious soda and has a funny name that reminds me of the way Jamaicans say the word ‘thing’.

But, is Boom Ting a kind of Ting soda, and is it a real drink? I did some research and here’s what I found.

I’ve already covered what Ting tastes like, so then what does Boom taste like?

What does Boom ting drink like?

Boom tastes almost identical to Red Bull except it’s much sweeter.

The soda itself is light brown in color, and because of its flavor makes a really good mixer for Jamaican cocktails and alcoholic drinks.

When you combine Ting with Boom, it adds a citrus tang to Boom. 

And carbonated grapefruit drink has a completely unique flavor.

The closest thing I could describe it is a mix between a citrus soda like Sprite or 7Up with Redbull.

Ting has a much more sour citrusy taste than Sprite.

And Boom is a lot sweeter than Redbull. So, the fact that Sprite is sweeter than Ting offsets the fact that Redbull isn’t as sweet as Boom.

Recently, zero-sugar and zero-calorie carbonated beverages and drinks have become really popular and virtually all of the popular sodas come in a zero-calorie version.

Also, if you’re trying to lose weight tracking how many calories you consume is important.

So, then, how many calories are there in a can of Ting?

There is a direct relationship between how many calories a soda has and how much sugar it has, and Ting is no different.

And it has around 28g of sugar – which is also very similar to other popular sodas on the market today.

Every soda has similar ingredients, carbonated water, lime juice, and some kind of flavoring and coloring.

But, what exactly is in Ting? Here’s what’s in it, shown on the nutritional label…

And because of that sometimes there are slight differences in the ingredients that are used to make Ting.

It also contains 6% real grapefruit juice.

Other sodas like Fanta, don’t use real fruit juice anymore which does change how they taste.

And the fact that Ting contains real fruit juice makes it taste almost identical to real grapefruit juice.

You may have noticed that Ting contains sodium citrate, and wondered what it is.

Sodium citrate is commonly added to sodas either to preserve the soda or to change its taste.

Sodium citrate has a slightly sour flavor that goes with the sourness of grapefruit juice.

When you buy sodas in different countries they can be made using different sweeteners.

For example, Coca-Cola made in Mexico is sweetened with sugar rather than corn syrup.

So, I wondered whether Ting made in each country is sweetened with sugar or artificial sweetener, here’s what I found…

When I first heard about high fructose corn syrup I didn’t think much of it.

But, some people are of the opinion that consuming regular sugar is better.

Ting is a delicious drink that you probably now want to try for yourself, so then where exactly can you buy it?

And instead, you’ll need to get it from a specialty soda website. The individual website for each country is different.

The best way to find it is to do a Google search for “buy Ting soda” from where you’re located.

There is also a drink called Pink Ting. But, I’m interested in whether it is a different flavor of Ting soda.

So, I did some research to get to the bottom of it…

Pink Ting isn’t available where I live so I haven’t been able to try it, so I looked through a bunch of reviews of previous customers who bought it on Amazon.

They say that it has a bit more of a grapefruit flavor compared to standard Ting.

They also say that it’s widely available in the Caribbean, however, in other countries like the US and Canada, it’s a bit pricey.

But, almost all of the people who brought it absolutely love it.

Standard grapefruit has yellow skin, and the juice and pulp look like that of a lemon.

There are various varieties of grapefruits and the sweetest is thought to be Rio Red, which was made as a hybrid in Texas, USA, according to the University of California Riverside.

Interestingly, grapefruit is thought to have originated in Barbados which is another Caribbean Island very close to Jamaica, where it then spread to the mainland of North America and internationally.

Ting makes a great mixer for alcoholic drinks and the sour citrus flavor profile (refreshing cocktail) means that it pairs better with some alcohol than others. So then what kinds of spirits and liquors go best with the amazing drink Ting soda?

You can vary how much alcohol you use, however, around 1 to 2 shots of spirits per glass makes it so that the alcohol taste isn’t overpowering.

You can make a simple mixer by adding 1 to 2 shots in a glass, and then filling the remainder of it with Ting soda.

If you haven’t refrigerated the soda and the spirits, adding ice is also a nice touch, especially when it’s a hot day/evening.
